JAN TERM 2008 UPDATE

(from home page)
Working and photographing at the Ranch is one of the most fun things I will do all year, and this year started out with a bang as far as the weather. Northern New Mexico started the beginning of January with a good snowstorm, and for a few hours one day it was really coming down in huge fluffy flakes. I sheltered myself and my camera under one of the buildings covers at the ranch and shot the photo above. The cold January temperatures made sure the snow stayed around all month.

More about the class: it's open to beginning photography students and more advanced students as well. Black and White Landscape is the official title and landscape theory, camera work, film developing, and printing are all covered in a very intense three week class. Our two non-college students were using 120 format cameras, however the darkroom will handle 35mm up to 4x5 inch negatives. Students were free to photograph most of the ranch, and had an opportunity to take weekend trips to Chaco Canyon, Bandelier National Monument, Santa Fe, and Tent Rocks. Students are housed and fed at the ranch so they can really dive into the classes at Ghost Ranch. Of course Ghost Ranch has a website, www.ghostranch.org, if you want more information on the ranch, this class or other classes...continued
